Introduction to Decolonized Motherhood
Achieving Liberation Through Breaking Intergenerational Cycles
Welcome to Decolonized Motherhood!
Like the decision to apply to the graduate program of my dreams, I thought and thought about creating this Substack. My goal is to share my research, reflections and findings beyond the privileged walls of an academic institution. I firmly stand on the belief that education should be accessible to all and this is my offering to the movement of decolonizing education. Furthermore, I believe that the research and work I pursue is a community and collaborative effort, it should not fall on the backs of mothers to complete and achieve. Therefore, it is crucial that this work is shared widely.
With this mentioned, it is important to address the paid subscription which I will be offering through this Substack. While the free option will be important in learning about my research, the overall work involved, and how to apply it to your parenting or child & youth education practices, the paid subscription option will offer exclusive content and a variety of extras for the Decolonized Motherhood community. I highly recommend subscribing to the free access to learn more, and if you’re ready for a next level of commitment in your journey then I invite you to commit to the paid subscription (but no pressure!).
On a related note, I am so delighted to be publishing the first Decolonized Motherhood post on January 1, 2024; exactly 6 years after publishing my very first podcast episode on the Vida With Christie Podcast, now the Decolonized Motherhood Podcast, which led me to pursuing an MA degree and my research.
I look forward to having you as part of the Decolonized Motherhood community and connecting with you. Check out more about Decolonized Motherhood and me, Christie Lazo, as well as follow me on social: TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
